The Truckee Office of Emergency Services has issued a public safety notice to all residents of Truckee, CA regarding a Public Safety Outage Message (PSOM) beginning Thursday November 21 between the hours of 6am and 6pm. Although it is not likely that the power will be shut off it is being broadcast to residents of the city as part of the ¨Ready, Set, Go¨ emergency preparedness program in which numerous city and local agencies participate. For more information on this program as well as the full plan details please see the links below. The Truckee Police Department, Truckee Fire Protection District and Nevada County Office of Emergency Services use the CodeRED Emergency Alert System as the primary method of communication during critical incidents. CodeRED is an opt-in notification system, and these alerts may be received as text, email, landline, cell phone, and TTY. Residents and visitors are encouraged to subscribe to CodeRED to stay informed in the event of an emergency.
Register for CodeRED emergency alerts:
After registering for the alert program note the following:
View the CodeRed FAQs page for additional information.
It can be confusing for people who may have a Truckee address but, in reality, are located in Placer County. By entering a specific location or using the GPS feature in TahoeAlerts, we eliminate any guesswork and ensure residents and visitors are signed up for the correct alert systems. Simply visit http://www.tahoealerts.com, enter your address or location, and let the system do the rest, identifying the emergency notification system that’s right for you.
